Henry John Shepherd was a solicitor who was in partnership with John Lockwood and between them they conducted a large proportion of the legal work and land sales of Beverley. The partnership was dissolved in 1821 and Lockwood died in 1827. Shepherd went bankrupt in 1832 and formed a new partnership in 1833.
